To narrow the scope of your search results, try using:
Multiple Words
Multiple words are searched together as one phrase. Words enclosed in double quotes will appear together in all results exactly as typed. To search multiple words not as a phrase see OPERATORS (below). Example: United States Supreme Court.
Operators
Use AND or OR to specify multiple words in any field, any order. Use AND NOT to exclude words.
Example: large print AND mystery; games OR toys;
Truncation
Words may be right-hand truncated using an asterisk. Use a single * asterisk to truncate 1-5 characters. Use a double asterisk * * for open-ended truncation. Truncation is helpful when you don't remember the correct spelling of a long name or subject.
Example: Environment*, Child*, inter**
Wildcards
You may use a question mark to replace a single charcter anywhere within a word
Example: wom?n
Field Limits
A field limit causes the system to search only the specified field for the specified word(s). Specify fields to search, using a field abbreviation such as a: (author), t: (title), d: (subject), N: (note), m: (media only), and v: (search media and bibliographic data).
Example: (a:twain) AND (t:huck*) ;(a:united AND a:states) AND (d:handicapped OR d:disabled)
